Technology
& equipment

The drones and robots are how the work gets done, not what we sell. What you buy is clean panels and the power that comes with them — unless you would rather own the machines and run them yourself, which we can also arrange.

The platform

What the
technology does

Drone inspection

Normal and heat-sensing cameras, flown over the whole site.

Automated cleaning

Robotic and drone-powered cleaning, deployed and operated by LUMEN.

A written report

Photographs and findings handed over as a document, not a chat on site.

The cleaning drone

Water at pressure,
flown to the panel

The drone carries a nozzle, not a tank. Water comes from a pump on the ground and up a hose, so the weight stays on the ground and the aircraft only has to fly the nozzle where it needs to go — up to 100 m away from where the pump sits.

Landing frame and hose feed
Pump pressure 3,200 PSI
Cleaning rate About 1,000 m² an hour
Water flow 0–12 litres a minute
Flight time 30–50 minutes a battery
Working height Up to 100 m
Hose reach 100 m from the pump
Airframe weight 7.4 kg without battery
Battery 12S 32,000 mAh

What comes to site

  • Remote controller with waterproof FPV camera
  • High-pressure electric pump
  • Semi-solid 12S battery and charger
  • 100 m hose on a manual reeler
  • Tool kit in an aluminium transport case

Water supply is agreed before the job. We can draw from a tank, a bowser or a site connection — the assessment covers what is available and what the site will need.

Why drones

Solar maintenance from
a different perspective

Four reasons the work is done from the air rather than row by row on foot.

Covers more ground

Flying across the panels instead of walking along them puts a whole site in one visit.

Fewer people on the roof

Roof edges, high structures and live plant stay something you look at, not climb on.

Reach difficult areas

High roofs, dense ground-mount rows, and the corners access equipment cannot reach.

Works at any size

The same method covers a 200 kW roof and a multi-megawatt field.

Equipment

Want to own
the technology?

For organisations that would rather run their own equipment, LUMEN can source and deploy it. You own the machine and run it; LUMEN handles getting it here and keeping it working.

  • Technology selection
  • Equipment sourcing
  • Manufacturer coordination
  • Deployment
  • Operator training
  • Spare-parts planning
  • Technical support

Fleet

Two platforms.
Four builds.

Choose by site, not by catalogue. The light R-Series carries up to a table by hand and works long ground-mount rows on mine and farm installations; the heavy T-Series doubles the brush and widens the path for large commercial arrays. Each comes in two widths, and every build is quoted, shipped and commissioned the same way.

R-Series

A single full-width brush lifts dust and harvest drift off the glass, on a chassis light enough for one person to carry up to a table. Built for long ground-mount rows where the machine can work a whole row before it turns. The Pro widens the path, adds the higher speed presets and takes the optional auto-path package.

T-Series

The heavy platform, sized for large commercial arrays and hard-to-reach plant areas. The chassis spreads its load across the cell field and four edge sensors stop and turn it at the end of every run. Order it with one brush roller or with two and a scraper behind them.

Not sure which
you need?

Most operators are better served by the services, where LUMEN owns the technology and you buy the outcome. Send us the site and we will say which of the two actually suits it.
